General Meetings

We host one meeting per month to welcome and engage new and returning members. The typical format includes a new member orientation, organization business and updates, a guest speaker, and social time. Meetings are listed on the Google calendar on the home page and are promoted in the newsletter.

Dr. Matthew Countryman, University of Michigan

Matthew J. Countryman is Associate Professor of Afroamerican and African Studies and of History at the University of Michigan. He spoke about the history of racial segregation in Ann Arbor housing, including findings from Justice Indeed.

Jennifer Hall, Ann Arbor Housing Commission

Jennifer Hall is the Executive Director of the Ann Arbor Housing Commission (AAHC). She presented about the City's work providing affordable housing for households with low incomes and exiting homelessness.

Wonder Clayton represented Michigan Ability Partners, which partners with veterans and people with disabilities in support of their self-directed transformation to self-sufficiency. She spoke on permanent supportive housing and services to homeless community members.

Scott Ellis is Director of Mission Advancement at Avalon Housing. Scott presented about Avalon's mission is to build healthy, safe and inclusive supportive housing communities
as a long-term solution to homelessness.

Gabriel Cuéllar, University of Michigan

Gabriel Cuéllar is an assistant professor in architecture at the University of Michigan whose design-research focuses on collective landholding practices, housing justice, contemporary environmental politics, and the role of architecture in struggles for spatial justice.
